Diddy Made A Surprise Visit To Bronx School He Helped Co-Found

According to hiphopdx.com, Diddy made a surprise visit on Tuesday, October 18th, to the Capital Preparatory Charter School in New York City. The mogul shared footage of his trip on Instagram, showing students excited as he made his way into the auditorium. He helped co-found the school in 2020 and donated $1 million to its opening. When Puff walked in, the children erupted, and he gave almost everyone a high five. Some students performed a dance routine for Diddy prior to him taking center stage to deliver a speech about how proud he was of the children.

Diddy captioned his Instagram post, “I surprised my students at @CapitalPrepBronxtoday, This is the 3rd school that I’ve been blessed to open. My dream has always been to provide children, in communities like the Bronx, the high quality education they deserve. We are grooming future leaders that will change their communities and the world!!#DiddyBackInTheCity.”

Diddy originally opened Capital Prep along with educational speaker Steve Perry to serve underserved students from sixth to ninth grade. The school currently has 200 students enrolled and has plans to facilitate 700, with the goal of adding an additional grade in the future. Puff and Perry have two other campuses in Harlem, New York and Bridgeport, Connecticut, which have been able to give thousands of students a chance to learn since they have opened.

The opening of the school wasn’t the first time that Diddy donated such a large amount to the advancement of Black education. He also pledged the same amount to Howard University in 2016 to set up a scholarship for students in need of financial aid.
