According to usnews.com, the second game of the American League Division Series between the Guardians and New York Yankees got postponed on Thursday due to steady rain in the forecast and was rescheduled for 1:07 p.m. on Friday. Major League Baseball called the game seven hours prior to the first pitch, at 7:37 p.m. The guardians have been rained out nine times at home this season due to Cleveland’s unpleasant weather. They also had two other games postponed on the road due to a COVID-19 outbreak. Which forced the team to play eight doubleheaders. Manager Terry Francona said that, “Never in my life, And it sounds like when we get back to Ohio, it’s not perfect. They think it’s going to be OK, but we’ll be dodging some raindrops both days it looks like.”
New York won Tuesday night’s opening game in the best of five series 4-1. Now the two teams could play four days in a row. Both game three and four are scheduled in Cleveland this weekend. If a game five is needed, it would be on Monday night at Yankee Stadium. The winner of the series will continue to the AL Championship Series against either Houston or Seattle.
