Global Cat Day is October 16 – Let’s End Cruelty to Cats Worldwide

Global Cat Day is October 16, which also happens to be National Feral Cat Day.  For rescue organizations like Alley Cat Allies, it’s a chance to spread the word about protecting and improving cats’ lives, specifically, ending cruelty to cats worldwide.

As rescue and advocacy organization Alley Cat Allies states, “Stopping cruelty to cats requires everything from boots-on-the-ground work to policy change in the highest houses of government. We can do it all, together.”

LEARN ABOUT THE LAW AND “THE LINK”

Anti-cruelty laws exist in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, and all include felony provisions. It’s important to remember that anti-cruelty laws exist for a reason: animal cruelty offenders are a threat to the health and safety of all members of our communities. The Link between violence against animals and violence against people is well documented.

SIGN THE PLEDGE: STAND AGAINST ANIMAL CRUELTY

Cruelty to cats is happening around the country and the world. Though some cases are publicized, they are far too rarely investigated or prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

We need to come together now behind a simple message: Every cat deserves justice, and every life matters. Cruelty to cats must be taken gravely and seriously.

  • I pledge to join Alley Cat Allies in demanding all animal cruelty be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
  • I pledge to educate my community on how to report cruelty to cats and about The Link between violence to animals and violence to people.
  • I pledge to be an unwavering voice for cats, because they cannot speak for themselves.
