Hear David Lee Roth’s Cover of Van Halen’s ‘Dance the Night Away’

According to ultimateclassicrock.com, David Lee Roth released his band’s version of Van Halen’s “Dance the Night Away,” the latest from a live studio recording from back in May. He has also already released new versions of “Panama,” and “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love,” which followed “Nothing Could Have Stopped Us Back Then Anyway,” a tribute to his former bandmates. He also appeared interested in joining a tribute to late guitarist Eddie Van Halen saying, “I wrote the songs. … I was the one who named the band. … I’m only in the middle of my first retirement.”

“Dance the Night Away” had appeared on Van Halen II in 1979 becoming their first top 20 hit, ultimately reaching number 15 after its release in April of that year. Roth had mentioned several times that the song was inspired by the sight of a woman running from the cops after getting caught having sex in a truck outside of a Van Halen show.
