Seattle Mariners’ Manage to Blow Nine-Run Lead in Loss to Royals

According to cbssports.com, the Seattle Mariners have now dropped seven of their last ten games. In Sunday’s loss to the Royals, the Mariners had an 11-2 lead in the middle of the sixth inning. Instead of maintaining the lead, they manage to give up 11 runs in a single inning to the Royals with only six hits and five walks. The 11 runs given up in a single inning ties a franchise record and the last time this occurred was on May 28th, 2000, according to Shannon Drayer. The only good for the Mariners is that the Orioles lost as well, meaning they maintain a four game lead for the third AL wild card. It should be pretty hard for them to lose their four game lead with only ten games left. However, you wouldn’t expect them to give up 11 runs in a single inning either, anything is possible.
