The Kinks Have Announced a Special ‘Muswell Hillbillies/Everybody’s in Show-Biz Box Set

According to ultimateclassicrock.com, The Kinks have officially announced a box set celebrating their 50th anniversary of 1971’s Muswell Hillbillies and 1972’s Everybody’s in Show-Biz – Everybody’s a Star. The deluxe box set is arriving on September ninth and features newly remastered versions of both of the albums on vinyl and CD. The box set will also feature 11 new remixes from co-founder Ray Davies, a Blu-ray that features an unseen, digitally restored 1971 home movie. Other bonus content includes a 52 page hardcover book, a kinks metal badge, glossy photo prints of the band and a map highlighting Kinks related locations. Originally the album, Muswell Hillbillies was released in 1971 and was the band’s very first album with their label RCA Records. Primarily influenced by Ray and Dave Davies’ London upbringing, with working class life inspiring the album. The album initially was a flop but has gathered a following over the years amongst Kinks fans. Dave Davies is quoted in saying, “Muswell Hillbillies is one of my favorite Kink’s albums, It’s a bit of a backstory to the Davies family and the characters involved.” Ray Davies also had something to say in stating, “Now with a new record company and a new image, I could bring some of the old wild western spirit into my music, These albums capture the
the reemergence of the Kinks as a touring band.” The Muswell Hillbillies/Everybody’s In Show-Biz deluxe box can now be preordered, in multiple different variations.
