According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Starz platform and Walt Disney have decided to partner up and offer a special streaming package that is specifically targeted at Latin America. The package offers Disney plus, Star plus, and Starzplay for customers in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, and Peru. This is most likely an effort to combat tech giants such as Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV Plus. Starz current base of customers includes 24.5 million and Disney holds 137.7 million subscribers. Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer had this to say in a statement regarding the deal, “We are targeting an announcement of our plan by the end of the summer and expect a transaction could close as early as our fiscal fourth quarter,”. The package will offer a combination of Disney originals like Encanto, Spanish original series offered by Starplay, and sports offered by Star plus for the following prices depending on the local currency. Brazil: R$ 55.90, Mexico: MXN 309.00, Argentina: ARS 1,150.00, Chile: CLP 12,500, Colombia: COP 49,900, Ecuador: USD 17.99 and Peru: PEN 55.90.
