Technology today allows for some pretty interesting things, including hologram performances at concerts. At every concert of the Rhapsody Tour by Queen and Adam Lambert, guitarist Brian May has been performing a duet every night with a hologram version of the band’s late frontman Freddie Mercury. In a recent performance which ended up being captured and posted onto TikTok, May became overwhelmed with emotion during the performance and was spotted wiping tears away. TikTok user @impsky77 uploaded a recording of the event where you can see the final few moments of the song “Love Of My Life” along with May getting emotional at London’s O2 Arena. Footage of Freddy Mercury during his Wembley concert on July 12th, 1986 was used to create the hologram that caused May to get emotional. Freddy Mercury passed away back in 1991 due to AIDS. May was previously quoted in saying, “I don’t want to be touring with a hologram. It makes you feel like museum pieces, and we’re not fossils, we’re alive.”. It looks like his opinion on performing with a hologram may have changed, now that he is showing emotion even while on stage.
