Harry’s House Debuts at #1

It has been reported that the former One Direction singer has the fastest-selling album of 2022 so far, as it blasts to No. 1 on the midweek chart in his home country, The United Kingdom. Harry’s House has already eclipsed the final opening week tally of his chart-leading self-titled debut (57,000 U.K. chart sales in May 2017) and 2019’s Fine Line (49,000 for a No. 2 debut).

Harry’s House is the third studio album by English singer and songwriter Harry Styles, released on 20 May 2022 by Columbia and Erskine Records. The OCC reports that his third studio album notches over 61,000 chart sales after just one weekend of sales and streaming activity. This kind of explosion hasn’t been seen in the U.K. since Adele’s 30 dropped in November 2021.

In an interview with Apple Music, Styles explained how he came up with the album title: “The album is named after Haruomi Hosono, he had an album in the ’70s called Hosono’s House, and I spent that chunk in Japan; I heard that record and I was like ‘I love that. It’d be really fun to make a record called Harry’s House’.” The album features John Mayer on lead guitar on “Cinema” and “Daydreaming”.

Styles’ single off the album, “As it Was”, has passed 139 Million views on YouTube, and is #10 in the world. Watch the video here.
