Friday Movie Release: “The Bad Guys,” “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” “Northman”

This Friday has a little bit of everything with an animated comedy for the family, a Viking epic, and Nicolas Cage starring in a film about…Nicolas Cage.

Never have there been five friends as infamous as The Bad Guys—dashing pickpocket Mr. Wolf, seen-it-all safecracker Mr. Snake, chill master-of-disguise Mr. Shark, short-fused “muscle” Mr. Piranha, and sharp-tongued expert hacker Ms. Tarantula, aka “Webs.” But when, after years of countless heists and being the world’s most-wanted villains, the gang is finally caught, Mr. Wolf brokers a deal to save them all from prison: The Bad Guys will try to go good. Starring Sam Rockwell, Awkwafina, Anthony Ramos, Marc Maron, Craig Robinson, Zazie Beetz, Lilly Singh, Alex Borstein, and Richard Ayoade, The Bad Guys is DreamWorks’ latest joyride. Catch it in theaters with the whole family this Friday.

The Northman is an epic historical action drama film directed by Robert Eggers, and co-written by Eggers and the Icelandic poet and novelist Sjón. Based on the legend of Amleth, in which a young Viking prince on his quest to avenge his father’s murder, the film stars Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Björk, and Willem Dafoe. The Northman is rated R and will be released nationwide on Friday.

Nicolas Cage stars as… Nick Cage in the action-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin, the fictionalized version of Cage must accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a dangerous superfan (Pedro Pascal). Things take a wildly unexpected turn when Cage is recruited by a CIA operative (Tiffany Haddish) and forced to live up to his own legend, channeling his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters in order to save himself and his loved ones. With a career built for this very moment, the seminal award-winning actor must take on the role of a lifetime: Nick Cage. This goofy, alternate reality will hit the big screen on Friday.
