Despite being nominated in five categories, Kanye West has been barred from performing at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
According to a spokesperson for West, the ban is due to his “concerning online behavior,” including threats, harassment aimed at his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, and, most recently, for calling Daily Show host Trever Noah a racist name, which resulted in a temporary suspension from Instagram.
Noah, who will be hosting the annual music awards show next month, recently condemned West’s behavior on his show.
“You may not feel sorry for Kim because she’s rich and famous,” Noah said of the controversy, explaining that the public should not be laughing at West’s actions but instead taking them seriously as abuse. “But what she’s going through is terrifying to watch and shines a spotlight on what so many women go through when they choose to leave.”
The 2022 Grammys is taking place on April 3rd at 5 PM PDT.
