After canceling the first two series of the season last week, the Major League Baseball Owners and the League Commissioner, Rob Manfred, have threatened to cancel more games if a new Collective Bargaining Agreement is not reached tonight.
With the full 162-game schedule at risk, pressure is being put on the MLB union to submit to a deal that will propel the season to start based on the concessions the players will have to make for the owners.
The owners are comfortable with canceling more games, while not paying players for those missed games. Both the owners and the union have described this situation as a “deadlock” going into today’s later discussion, as fans across America hope for the best.
