Procol Harum’s Gary Brooker Dies at 76

Procol Harum has just recently announced the passing of singer and pianist Gary Brooker. He had been receiving treatment for cancer, and peacefully died in his home at 76 years old.

“With the deepest regret we must announce the death on 19 February 2022 of Gary Brooker MBE,” the band confirmed.

Brooker founded Procol Harum in 1966 with Robin Trower and Keith Reid, and they were most well known for their worldwide hit “A Whiter Shade of Pale.” Procol Harum was a major part of the 60s and 70s progressive rock wave.

Brooker, in addition to his time with Procol Harum, also had a solo career that consisted of a handful of notable collaborations, including Eric Clapton, George Harrison, the Alan Parson Project, Kate Bush, and Ian McDonald.
