Over the weekend, Olivia Rodrigo celebrated the one-year anniversary of her breakout track “Driver’s License.”
With a video of her singing in her home taken just a few days after writing the song, Rodrigo posted a dedication “to the little song that changed my whole life” on social media.
“I made this video a day or two after I wrote drivers license in my living room (with a very squeaky sustain pedal lol),” the TikTok singer wrote in her caption. “[C]razy to think how quickly life changes. Thank u to everyone who has supported me so tenderly. music is the most magical thing in the world.”
“Driver’s License,” written about young love and heartbreak, was released on January 8th, 2021, and was the fire starter to Rodrigo’s blossom of a career. It twice broke Spotify’s record for most daily streams ever within the week it released, also becoming the first song to hit 80 million streams in just seven days.
