In just three days, Adele’s 30 has become 2021’s biggest album debut.
Earning over 660,000 equivalent album units in the U.S., the British singer’s fourth release has broken records for this year set by Drake’s Certified Lover Boy and both Taylor Swift’s evermore and Red (Taylor’s Version).
Adele, who is notoriously both elusive and humble, has downplayed her talent many times over, most recently in a one-on-one interview with Oprah.
“I don’t think, as a person, I have what my singing has,” Adele admitted. “I don’t think I’m that deep in real life.”
Despite its hugely successful release, 30 was not nominated for a single 2022 Grammy. That’s because the album just missed the window of eligibility, not due to any snubbing. Not to worry, though, as the Grammy-veteran’s 30 is said to be acquiring quite a bit of recognition for the following awards ceremony in 2023.
