Apple CEO Tim Cook wow’d virtual audiences with his launch of all of the tech giant’s new goodie gadgets at their annual “Apple Event” on September 14th.
While he had the audience all fresh and revved up, Cook started off the night by promoting Apple TV’s Fall lineup, which sounds great, but let’s face it, that’s not what the tech crowd was there for. Techies want gadgets, and those came next.
The Apple iPad will have an “advanced A13 Bionic chip (with 20% faster performance). True Tone technology. The iPadOS 15 operating system. 12 Mega Pizel Ultra Wide front camera with Center Stage. Now starting at 64GB of storage.” Cook says the new iPad’s will become even more versatile with powerful new features, like advanced cameras and connectivity, while retaining their simplicity “at an incredibly affordable price.” Wi-Fi models of iPad are available with a starting price of $329 (US), and Wi-Fi + Cellular models start at $459 (US), in silver and space gray finishes. The new iPad starts with 64GB of storage — double the storage of the previous generation. A 256GB option is also available.
Not to be outdone, the new Apple iPad mini, which as Cook says, gives its users “all the power of iPad in its most portable form,” has just gotten its “biggest upgrade ever,” a complete redesign that will now contain a powerful A15 Bionic chip. New all‑screen design (expanded to 8.3″). Superfast 5G. Ultra Wide front camera with Center Stage. “Now in four gorgeous colors.” This new version boasts a 40% jump in CPU performance, and an 80% leap in GPU performance. he new iPad mini is available to order now and starts at $499 for the 64GB Wi-Fi-only model, going up to $649 for the 256GB model. Cellular models are available for $150 more over the base price of each configuration. The first-generation Apple Pencil that works with the iPad mini is available for $129.
It’s also important to note that across the board, Apple is boasting environmental-friendly improvements in their production, utilizing recycled and upcycled materials.
Then there’s the Apple Watch Series 7. The largest, most advanced Always‑On Retina display with 20% more screen area than Series 6, that’s designed to maximize the screen area without increasing the size of the watch itself. It’s also touted to be the “most durable Apple Watch we’ve ever built” that promises to be dust-proof and water-proof. “Best user experience” with 50% more text on screen than Series 6, easier buttons, a full keyboard, and quickpath predictive typing. Breakthrough health innovations to help you increase your performance in activities like cycling and ebikes. Up to 33% faster charging with five new colors, the classic colors, new Nike styling and an Hermes version. Series 7 starts at $399.
But the biggest announcement of the night was the impending release of the highly anticipated iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro. And the iPhone 13 promises to be “our most advanced dual‑camera system ever with lenses arranged diagonally. An even brighter OLED display. A lightning‑fast chip that leaves the competition behind. A huge leap in battery life.” Incredibly durable and water resistant. Brand new colors. An immersive viewing experience. The A15 Bionic chip is supposed to be their fastest yet to let you “absolutely fly” with “the fastest CPU in any smartphone.” 50% faster CPU than the competition, 30% faster graphics, and “Secure Enclave,” that locks down personal info like your Face ID data and contacts. And it’s more efficient, helping to deliver longer battery life. The 13 and Pro are all about 5G, with more 5G bands for more 5G speeds in more spaces for better gaming, videos, and Smart Data mode that saves power when you don’t need it. The iPhone 13 starts at $799 (before trade-in), or broken up into payments of $33.29/mo. for 24 months.
Apple says the only thing better, stronger, and faster than the iPhone 13… the iPhone 13 Pro. Cooke said the Pro will boast a dramatically more powerful camera system with wide, ultra wide, a more powerful zoom, faster uploading and downloading with 5G. ProRes and Cinematic Mode, so that your iPhone videos can look more like real films, even bringing you Dolbyvision. An all‑new OLED display with ProMotion. A15 Bionic, the world’s fastest smartphone chip. A huge leap in battery life. All of this for $41.62/mo. for 24 months or $999 (before trade-in).
