On Friday, April 16th, as an extension of their COVID-19 Vaccine Education Initiative, “It’s Up To You,” the Ad Council and COVID Collaborative has just announced the release of a brand-new recording of “I’ll Be Seeing You” performed by Grammy Award-winning musician, Willie Nelson.
About “I’ll Be Seeing You” and the vaccine PSA, Willie said in a statement, “I’m happy to be part of this new campaign with the Ad Council and COVID Collaborative to empower millions more to get the answers they need and feel confident in getting vaccinated, like I did.”
Nelson’s latest version of “I’ll Be Seeing You” features his iconic voice as well as ukulele accompaniment by Ari Hest. Nelson included a version of the song on his 1994 album, Healing Hands of Time. Sammy Fain and Irving Kahal penned “I’ll Be Seeing You” in the 1930s and it debuted in the 1938 Broadway musical, Right This Way. The tune was later covered by Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra, the latter of which Willie has honored with a pair of tribute albums, with That’s Life arriving earlier this year.
