St. Vincent Performs New Music on SNL

On Saturday night, April 3rd, St. Vincent made a stylish return SNL, debuting a pair of dazzling new tracks from her upcoming album, Daddy’s Home.

Saturday’s episode marked Clark’s second appearance on the long-running NBC sketch comedy show. Her SNL debut arrived in 2014 with performances of “Digital Witness” and “Birth in Reverse” during an episode featuring beloved former cast member Andy Samberg as host.

“It was truly an honor to play in Studio 8H, again. Thank you for having me @nbcsnl,” Clark tweeted after her most recent appearance. Oscar-nominated Judas and the Black Messiah actor Daniel Kaluuya served as host of the episode.

The shapeshifting singer-songwriter, born Annie Clark, oozed of 1970s glamour during her memorable performances, rocking an all-green blouse and slacks, with a cream blazer and blonde hair for the funky number “Pay Your Way in Pain.” Later in the show, she donned a beautiful sparkly dress with fur coat and a large pearl necklace for her soulful single “The Melting of the Sun,” a tribute to women in music who helped pave the way for her career.

Both tracks will appear on Clark’s sixth album, Daddy’s Home, which is scheduled for release on May 14. She recently described the forthcoming set, the follow-up to 2017’s Masseduction, as a collection of “stories of being down and out in downtown NYC. Last night’s heels on the morning train. Glamour that’s been up for three days straight.”
