This Day in Music History – March 29th

1951 – “The King and I” opened on Broadway.

1962 – Gene Chandler received a gold record for “Duke of Earl.”

1966 – The Rolling Stones played a concert at L’Olympia Bruno Coquatrix, Paris, France. About 85 people were arrested for rioting after the show.

1973 – Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show appeared on the cover of “Rolling Stone.”

1980 – The BeeGees were sued by a Chicago man for plagiarism of the song “How Deep Is Your Love.” The BeeGees won the case on appeal.

1988 – Madonna debuted on Broadway in “Speed The Plow.”

1998 – Shania Twain began her first headlining tour in her Canadian homeland in Sudbury, Ontario.
