A day after helping lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to an NFL championship and starring in Disney’s iconic Super Bowl commercial, the Bucs’ gregarious tight end, Rob Gronkowski, spent a magical afternoon at Walt Disney World Resort on Monday, still basking in the joy of his team’s extraordinary victory.
Mere hours after Tampa Bay toppled Kansas City in Super Bowl LV in Tampa, Florida, Gronkowski brought the team’s Super Bowl euphoria to Walt Disney World, where he took in the sights and sounds of The Most Magical Place on Earth. He experienced signature attractions, waved hello to some Disney pals and generally had a “super” time. Gronkowski experienced Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom Park, celebrated backstage near Cinderella Castle with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, and more over the course of a magical day.
The night before, Gronkowski delivered a remarkable performance in the Bucs’ 31-9 win over the Chiefs, catching six passes for 67 yards and a team-leading two touchdown receptions from quarterback Tom Brady, the Super Bowl MVP who starred alongside Gronkowski in the Disney commercial.
Immediately after the game, Disney illuminated Cinderella Castle in the Bucs’ colors as well as in blue to honor health care heroes who’ve been courageously battling the global pandemic.
Gronkowski joins some of the biggest names in the NFL who have appeared in Disney’s popular Super Bowl commercial, which has become woven into the fabric of the game since 1987 when New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms first appeared in the spot following his team’s Super Bowl victory. This marks the ninth time two Super Bowl stars have appeared together in the commercial.
