The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards took place on Wednesday, September 11, at New York’s UBS Arena, with a star-studded night full of performances, memorable moments, and major wins. Hosted by Billboard, the red carpet was buzzing, and the performances inside left the audience in awe.
Taylor Swift led the pack with 12 nominations, and she didn’t disappoint, leaving the night with seven awards, including Video of the Year for her collaboration with Post Malone on “Fortnight.” Post Malone also had a successful night, taking home five awards, making them the top two winners of the evening.
In other big wins, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” claimed Song of the Year, and Chappell Roan earned Best New Artist. Eminem’s “Houdini” won Best Hip-Hop, while SZA took home Best R&B for “Snooze.”
The event also celebrated a diverse array of genres, with Lenny Kravitz winning Best Rock for “Human,” Anitta taking Best Latin for “Mil Veces,” and Tyla securing Best Afrobeats with “Water.”
Katy Perry’s 2013 performance of “Roar” was crowned VMAs Most Iconic Performance, and Billie Eilish won Video for Good with “What Was I Made For” from Barbie.
With unforgettable performances and historic wins, the 2024 VMAs proved to be a night to remember.
