2024 Emmys: A Night of Second Chances and Historic Wins

Hollywood got a second chance to celebrate TV’s finest this year as stars reunited at the Peacock Theater for the 2024 Emmy Awards, just eight months after the delayed 2023 event. Hosted by Eugene and Dan Levy, the evening shone brightly on talent like Jeremy Allen White of The Bear and Richard Gadd of Baby Reindeer.

Hacks finally clinched the title of Outstanding Comedy Series after three nominations. Jean Smart, portraying the iconic Deborah Vance, also won an acting Emmy. The Schitt’s Creek cast made a surprise appearance, with Catherine O’Hara humorously presenting the comedy series award.

Shōgun made history as the first Japanese-language series to win Outstanding Drama Series, amassing 18 total wins. Stars Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai delivered heartfelt speeches, highlighting the show’s cultural significance.

The evening saw nostalgic reunions with casts from The West Wing, revisiting the political drama’s legacy, and legal eagles like Viola Davis, Gina Torres, and Christine Baranski honoring TV’s courtroom dramas.

Jodie Foster celebrated her first Emmy win for True Detective: Night Country, captivating the audience with her heartfelt acceptance speech. The night was a blend of laughter, history, and a showcase of television excellence.
