Normally we dedicate ‘Girl Power’ to a rising star or influencer in entertainment or business, but we’ve got some really interesting news about women’s health to share.
In a recent study by the teams of Olin Business School at Washington University, Carlson School of Management at University of Minnesota Business School, and Harvard Business School, a woman is more likely to survive a heart attack if the treating pysican is a woman.
Evidently a woman doctore can relate and diagnose a woman suffering from a cardiac incident far better than a male doctor. The nearly 20-year old study looked at 600,000 cases and determined that female patients had a higher survival rate when a female doctor when treated in the ER. Women tend to relate to and communicate more efficiently with other women may be an obvious reason for a better cardiac outcome.
