According to rollingstone.com, Willie Nelson is planning on releasing a new book titled, “Me and Paul: Untold Tales of a Fabled Friendship,” that goes into detail on his friendship with the late drummer Paul English. Paul English was a member of Nelson’s band from 1966 up until his death in 2020 at the age of 87. Nelson is quoted in saying that, “There’s something about my friendship with Paul that reminds me of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn,” He continued to say that, “Tom was more civilized and Huck was wilder. Although I was plenty wild at age 22, I’d have to say Paul was wilder. Like Tom and Huck, though, we became a team. Nothing could or would ever separate us.” English was well known for his rough and tumble attitude and served as the bands bodyguard on top of his drumming. English even took on a persona called, “The Devil” wearing a cape and sporting an evil lookin goatee. Nelson even has a song referencing the two’s tales together from 1972 titled, “Me and Paul”. The book filled with untold tales, is set to release on September 20th of this year.
