What Do the Beach Boys, Christopher Cross and Deep Purple All Have in Common?

The Standells hit the charts with “Dirty Water,” a song that was so unusual it caused listeners to call their favorite radio station to ask what the lyrics were. It also made the River Charles famous.

“Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple became famous for a number of reasons; the opening guitar riff turned guitar stores on their ears!

Although “Sail on Sailor” and “Sloop John B” by the Beach Boys were on opposite ends of their career, it demonstrated Brian’s genius and the band’s longevity.

“Sailing” by Christopher Cross is the signature soft rock of the 70s, making Chris a household name for years to come.
