What a 40-Year Rush It Has Been

It’s hard to believe the band Rush has been recording and touring for over 40 years. Geddy Lee, the recently retired Neal Peart, and Alex Lifeson began in the suburbs of Toronto, knocking down the barriers of Canadian stereotypes and taking both Canada and the USA by storm.

Did you know that the band Rush has fans within the music industry? You must be pretty good when Billy Corgan of the band Smashing pumpkins, and country star Tim McGraw proclaim aloud to be bug Rush fans!

The real names of two of the band members will also surprise you. Alex Lifeson was actually born Aleksandar Zivojinovic, while Geddy is the child of surviving holocaust immigrants, born with the birth name of Gary Lee Weinrib.

Finally, real Rush fans know that the original drummer was John Rutsey whom Neal replaced, and the original lead singer was Jeff Jones, leaving to allow Geddy to step in.
