Welcoming ELO Into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

‘ELO’ will be honored at the HOF this week, so let’s get to know a little more about this unusual group…

The Electric Light Orchestra was originally a band called ‘The Move’ (their biggest single was called “Do Ya”). They would eventually morph into ‘The Electric Light Orchestra’ with their core members being Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood, Bev Bevan and Richard Tandy. The best way to describe their music would be a fusion of the pop sound of the Beatles, the symphonic melodies like the Moody Blues, and the progressive high lights of King Crimson.

On their first American tour in 1978, the band opened the show with smoke and a futuristic space ship, which unfortunately looked like a big hamburger!

You remember the music documentary called ‘Behind the Music’? They planned on doing a special about The Electric Light orchestra, but after two weeks stopped filming because they found the band so boring – no scandals!
