According to hollywoodreporter.com, Virginia Patton who played the part of Ruth Dakin Bailey, in the Frank Capra holiday classic, It’s a Wonderful Life, has passed away at the age of 97 years old. Patton passed away on Thursday at an assisted living facility located in Albany, Georgia, as announced by the Mathews Funeral Home. Virginia Ann Patton was born in Cleveland on June 25th, 1925 and was raised in Portland, Oregon, where she graduated from Jefferson High School in 1942 before making her way to Los Angeles. She made her debut in the musical Thank Your Lucky Stars in 1943 and appeared in small roles in other films such as Janie in 1944, Hollywood Canteen in 1944 and Jack Benny’s The Horn Blows at Midnight from 1945. Virginia was also a niece of World War II general George Patton.
