United States Heads to Cuba and More in This Week’s Sports Headlines

What a week it has been and we’re not even on to the weekend yet! Many huge events have occurred this week that we haven’t had a chance to touch on, but we’re going to now.

If you haven’t seen it yet, MLB has come back to Cuba. In an effort to help relations with Cuba, the MLB sent the Tampa Bay Rays to play the Cuban National team. The Rays would end up winning on Tuesday, but most can agree that this first step makes us all winners. For baseball fans, there are few fans and players more passionate about baseball than those from Cuba. President Obama, Derek Jeter, and many other big names were in attendance.

NBA in-game reporter, Craig Sager, has received some terrible news. His cancer is no longer in remission and doctors have given him 3-6 months to live. Sager has been battling for quite some time now and has vowed to continue fighting until his final days. Many around the sport have sent prayers through various social media channels to support him in this fight.

On a softer note, Lebron James has unfollowed the Cleveland Cavaliers on Twitter. Earlier in the week he made the decision and of course everyone found out about it. He says that he just wants to focus on basketball, but we’re not sure how those two mix. Lebron didn’t get off Twitter, he just unfollowed the Cavs and a few others.

What a week it has been for the sports world. It’s almost been too much just to keep up with everything has gone on!
