U.S. Men’s Soccer Team Fails to Qualify for World Cup

The United States men’s soccer team has been a part of the World Cup since 1986, but come the 2018 World Cup they will not be a part of it. Facing Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday night, all they needed was a tie or some help from Panama and Honduras. None of the above came and thus they failed to qualify for the World Cup.

A tie seemed like a guarantee going into this match against Trinidad and Tobago, but instead, they lost 2-1. After the loss, the official Twitter account of the team tweeted out, “Heartbreak.” See that post here.

What came next was a crazy storm of posts on social media from others speaking about the soccer team and what had happened. Many were saddened, mad, and shocked and who can blame them? It’s been 30+ years since they hadn’t qualified. It looks like we’ll be waiting four more years for a United States men’s soccer team to make a World Cup and we’re all shocked about it.
