The Oscars occurred last night and while there were no winners from the sports world, it has happened before. Let’s take you back to the 1930s and the USC Trojans.
Cotton Warburton was a 5’7, 145-pound quarterback for the Trojans who would go on to become a College Football Hall of Famer. His work with the Trojans was unquestioned, as he was named an All-American in 1932 and 1933. He averaged over four yards per carry and most amazingly, won an Oscar for his work with the movie “Mary Poppins.”
Oddly enough, Warburton wasn’t the only talented football player who would go on to have success on the big screen. Aaron Rosenberg was an All-American Guard for Warburton and the Trojans and would go on to become a producer and be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. He produced the movie “Mutiny on the Bounty,” which was one of many movies he worked on. Rosenberg would go on to be named a College Football Hall of Famer just like Warburton.
