This week Twitter has made changes to how users are allowed to use their social media platform and we think it’s a great idea. They have decided to try and stop hate speech and online abuse more than ever.
Trolling and other online abuse has ramped up so much in the past few months that there are celebrities that have stopped using social media period. One of those is Leslie Jones, the SNL comedian who quit Twitter when people kept berating her with offensive tweets.
There are two major additions to this social media platform and they are a new mute feature and the ability to report hateful conduct and offensive tweets in a quicker fashion. The mute function will allow users to restrict what users want to see in their notifications section.
Bravo to Twitter for addressing this issue.
