Tools and Tiaras Teams Up to put Girls to Work

SupplyHouse.com, an e-commerce company that sells plumbing, heating, and HVAC supplies, teamed up with Tools & Tiaras Inc. in hosting their first Long Island event at SupplyHouse.com’s headquarters in Melville, NY on February 29th. Tools & Tiaras Inc. is a non-profit organization that teaches girls about plumbing, electrical, architecture, and ironworking.

Every year, Judaline Cassidy (the founder of Tools & Tiaras Inc.) runs a week-long summer program in New York City to educate girls about all that the trades have to offer. After appearing in SupplyHouse.com’s TradeLife series, Cassidy partnered up with the company to host Tools & Tiara’s first Long Island workshop. Cassidy reached out to the team at SupplyHouse.com to propose a partnership in an effort to bring awareness to girls who reside in the Long Island area.

Five girls attended the event and learned how to make their very own “Leaky Linda,” a figure made out of black pipe. As a group, they learned about plumbing blueprints, how pressure gauges work, the different types of pipe fittings, and how to connect threaded black pipe.

“I truly and wholeheartedly believe that educating girls about the trades will equip them with tools (figuratively and literally) to empower them in all areas of their lives while increasing the future number of women in the skilled trades,” said Cassidy.
