Monitoring Tom Petty’s Health Situation

Editor’s Note: Conflicting reports continue to be released concerning Tom Petty’s health. We will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds. Our best wishes are with him and his family at this time.

Tom Petty, who was found unconscious and non-responsive after going into full cardiac arrest in his Malibu home late Sunday night, is in serious condition at this time.

Tom Petty is one of the most successful rockers of our time, having sold nearly 75 million albums with the Heartbreakers, earning the call from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as he and the Heartbreakers were inducted in 2002.

Tom and the Heartbreakers were winners of Grammy, Billboard, and MTV awards throughout his career. Tom was also named 2017’s ‘MusiCares Person of the Year,’ an honor he dearly cherished. Tom has his own satellite channel and Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

Tom grew up in Gainesville Florida, where as a young high school kid he was thrown out of the house after Tom chose music over college (he had a part-time summer job at the University of Florida, causing his dad to assume he would be headed to UF in the fall of that year)

The Eagles’ Don Felder is one of the early guitar instructors for Tom. Tom Petty, one of the greats, is in serious condition at this time.
