This Week’s NFL Star Birthdays

What a great time of year in the world of sports. We suffered through the end of February and beginning of March, but now we have the Final Four, start of MLB, crunch time in NBA, and the NFL Draft right on our heels.

Which of the NFL stars is turning a year older and are a year closer to being “too old” to excel at their sport? Let’s break down this week’s birthdays…

Derek Carr turned 25 on Monday. He’s on the right side of 30 and has plenty of time before we start calling him old. If he continues to improve and impress in Oakland though, we’ll have to start calling him a saavy veteran.

Justin Tuck is definitely on the wrong side of 30, but what he did in his 20s was astounding. He was a key pass rusher for the New York Giants when they won their two NFL championships. In 2008 and 2010, both years the team won it all, he combined for 23.5 sacks. Tuck celebrates his birthday on Tuesday.

Richard Sherman has had a great career as a Seattle Seahawks cornerback. He also was a key player when his team won the championship just a few years ago. Most don’t know that he was recruited to play wide receiver when he went to Stanford. Sherman turns 28 on the 30th.

Sean Taylor passed away when he was shot at his home in 2007, so we never got a chance to see what kind of player he would turn into. What we did see was a young star in the making. If he was still alive today he would be turning 33 on April 1. Rest in peace Sean.
