Last week we saw Baylor as the top dog on the AP Top 25 rankings for college basketball, but as the 2016-2017 has seen plenty of times, the top dog lost. That was the case when they got beat handily by West Virginia and now they have landed at number six. So who is the new top team?
Villanova was the National Champion from last season and is in the driver’s seat in 2017. They’re sitting at number one with a slight lead over Kansas. Surprisingly, Kansas has 32 first place votes compared to Villanova’s 28. UCLA and Gonzaga also received first place votes, 3 and 2 of them respectively.
Three teams dropped out of the top 25 this week. Minnesota, Kansas State and USC all sat at the bottom of the chart last week, but didn’t play well enough to continue to be among the top 25.
