There Was Only One Grammy Winning Lari White

Sadly, Lari White lost her battle with cancer this week, leaving a hole in the country music world that may never be filled. No, Lari never filled an arena, and didn’t have a big label release for nearly two decades, but her fans loved her work, her passion, her heart.

Lari sang wither family, The White Family Singers as a young child. Her first big break came from being named the winner on ‘You Can Be a Star,’ in 1988, her following year.

Through her career, her songs “That’s How You Know (When You’re In Love),” and “That’s My Baby” and were top 10 hits, charting a dozen more times in her career. In film Lari scored an incredible cameo in the Tom Hanks film ‘Castaway,’ as the woman he meets at the end of the film, giving him directions.

She also appeared in the Tim McGraw film ‘Country Strong.’ Lari earned three Grammys during her career, but her greatest reward came with bringing joy to her fans.

Lari passed away at in Nashville a young 52, leaving behind her husband Chuck Cannon and three children.
