The Women of the View

ABC scored a hit with the female based talk show The View, which debuted August of 1997. The show began with Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, Joy Behar, Star Jones, and Debbie Matenopoulos. Let’s take a quick tour around the table with a few of the stars…

Whoopi Goldberg is one of the remaining original members and the group’s highest-profile star of film and television. She’s earned an Oscar, a Grammy, a Tony, and an Emmy over the years, with her best work found in the films ‘Ghost’ and ‘The Color Purple.’

Joy Behar is the other remaining original member, a comedian by trade, making a name for herself as an unapologetic liberal and satirical public figure. She’s won a Daytime Emmy, but began her career as a receptionist and producer on the Goof Morning America show.

Meghan McCain is the daughter of Arizona Senator John McCain and has been a frequent guest on Fox News and other conservative news outlets.

Sarah Haines has an extensive entertainment news background, and a member of the NBC “Today Show,” working with Kathie Lee and Hoda Kotb.

Paula Faris does both the View on weekdays and “Good Morning America’s” weekend edition, her background more of the news ilk.

Sonny Hostin brings a wide array of political experience to the show, her work primarily as a legal analyst at CNN.
