If you’re a Charlie’s Angels fan, either from the early days or the reprisal version from a few years ago, you’ll be happy to hear that the Angeles feature a new lineup for their upcoming 2019 film, starring Naomi Scott, Ella Balinska, and Kristen Stewart. Elizabeth Banks, the creator of the “Pitch Perfect” franchise films, will produce.
The original Charlies Angels began in 1977 with Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, and Jacklyn Smith. (Cheryl Ladd would follow a few years later) The voice of Charlie was provided by John Forsythe. And Bosley was played by David Doyle.
Here’s what you may not have known about the show; ABC ran the pilot on March 21st, 1976 and the show generated tremendous ratings. The corporate guys, Barry Diller and Disney’s Michael Eisner didn’t believe the numbers and aired the same show a week later, with the same high rating results. The two hated the show but were forced to green light the season. We’re still sad that we’ve lost original Angel Farrah, but thankful for the 70s memories and that incredible wall poster.
The Sony Pictures project starring new Angeles is set for a September 27, 2019 release
