The Very Best Hits From When Gas was under a $1

1982 was a year of early British invasion, punk, and more. Gas was $.91 cents a gallon, the news-paper USA Today began to publish, and Michal Mann submitted his first draft to the NBC executives for a new show called ‘Gold Coast,’ evolving to the iconic ‘Miami Vice.’

What were the top songs in 1982?

John Cougar (Melencamp although not yet used) “Hurt So Good”
John Cougar and “Jack And Diane”
Survivor and ‘Eye of the Tiger”
Scorpions and “No One Like You”
Journey and “Open Arms”
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts with “I Love Rock And Roll”
Men at Work and “Who Can It Be Now”
J. Geils Band and “Centerfold”
Foreigner and “Juke Box Hero”
Toto and “Rosanna”

Conclusions: There were a ton of hits in this list, and frankly we wish we could go back to 1982. It’s the killer ‘J’s,’ with J. Geils, Journey, John Cougar and Joan Jett.
