The Top One Hit Wonders of the 2000s

In the music industry we call a band or singer that struggles their whole career, then has their 15 minutes of fame, that one moment when the whole world knows who they are due to a hit single. In all cases of a ‘One Hit Wonder’ they typically slip into obscurity. What were the top ‘One Hit Wonders’ of the 2000s?

If you were a fan of the early American Idol show, you know that when a contestant left the stage they did so under the tune Daniel Powter’s “Bad Day.” This song brought fame to Daniel, and shame to the departing talent during the fifth season of ‘American Idol.’

James Blunt was all the rage for 15 minutes in 2006 with his ballad “You’re Beautiful” in March 2006, which hit number one on the charts.

“Crazy” was an unusual hit for an unusual artist know as Gnarls Barkley. The song hit number two in July 2006. Fortunately for Gnarls, he’s also a great producer still working today.

In May of 2002, Vanessa Carlton and her piano struck gold with “A Thousand Miles” which rose to #5 on the charts.
