If you’ve never been to a ZZ Top concert we would strongly suggest finding the time, tour date near you, and the money because the wall of sound these three guys can throw at a live audience is remarkable.
ZZ Top’s original line up consisted of Billy Gibbons, keyboardist Lanier Greig (who recently died February 2013) and drummer Dan Mitchell. Billy Gibbons is still with the group, but the lineup is Frank Beard and Dusty Hill. The band began in the early 70s in Houston, TX.
The band befriended Jimi Hendrix in the early days. The pink Stratocaster you see Bill play was a gift of appreciation from Jimi as a sign of respect for his talent.
ZZ Top was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, and has earned 11 gold records and seven platinum records.
