The Irony Surrounding the Thompson Twins

The songs “Hold Me Now” and “Doctor Doctor” by the Thompson Twins are still getting airplay on your favorite radio station. The group began in late 1977 as an alternative band, but realized they could make more money if they shaped their sound to pop and lite rock, thus the success they enjoyed.

Here’s the irony; the Thompson Twins are neither twins nor related. Rather, the four original singers were un-related and not like each other at all. In fact, the name of the band came from the British literary – two bumbling detectives ‘Thomson and Thompson,’ in Hergé’s comic strip ‘The Adventures of Tintin.’

Thompson Twins founder Tom Bailey recently touring as “Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey,” home now after an extensive European and North American 206 tour, but has released a fantastic new single entitled “Come So Far” and now available.
