Kevin Durant was the big free agent target this offseason and on the Fourth of July, he made his decision to head to Golden State. With the signing of a two year, $54.3 million deal, Durant gave himself a legitimate shot at winning his first NBA title this upcoming season.
How does this impact the rest of the NBA though? Well, there is now talk that Russell Westbrook should be or will be traded out of Oklahoma City before the season begins. This would create a huge hole in OKC, essentially making them a lottery team and would boost the stock of whomever he were to be traded to. Teams like Minnesota, Boston, and Los Angeles would kill for a player of Westbrookâs stature of their team.
With Durant on the Warriors, the NBA essentially feels like a two-team league. The Cleveland Cavaliers are the clear favorite coming out of the East after winning their first NBA Championship this past season. The Durant signing sure has shaken up the NBA and has really capped off one crazy offseason.
