Standing or kneeling for the national anthem during professional sports has turned into one of the hottest topics these past few days, thanks to the President’s initial remarks and pro-sports athlete’s reactions.
At the recent Global Citizen Concert in New York’s Central Park this past weekend, Stevie Wonder stopped mid-song and knelt (both knees) to throw his support for those that find themselves in the crosshairs of public debate and political dissent. Although he’s not a national star, Shahid Kahn who was the Detroit Lions chosen singer of the national anthem before the game, took a knee on the word ‘brave’ during his performance, causing mostly supportive fan reaction.
