You have probably never heard of a man named L.A. Reid. L.A. is a top record executive that wrote a memoir last year that stayed on the bookshelves for a long while. In the book, he details the real feud between Michael Jackson and his bother Jermaine. If you’re a fan of the Jackson family, and Michael in particular, you will want to pick up the book.
“Sing to Me” by L.A. Reid details the struggles Jermaine was having, living under the shadows and success of baby brother Michael during the ‘Thriller” era. Remember, the Jackson Five had national success when Michael was still a young boy, and Jermaine moved to Atlanta to find his own voice – again.
Jermaine wrote a single called “Word to the Badd” and in that song the lyrics scandalize Michael for treating his older brother so badly. Michael called L.A. and demanded that he kill the single and promotion behind it. A few days later L.A. Reid withdrew the single from pressing and it disappeared from radio air play.
