Southern rock is a sound that combines good old boy Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer, the 4th of July; Pickup Trucks, and the Confederate Flag. In our humble opinion, here are some of our favorite southern rockers of all time…
The Marshall Tucker Band (Spartanburg, SC) rocked the house in the 70s until the death of bassist Tommy Caldwell in a car accident; the name of the band comes from a piano tuner in Spartanburg.
Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble (Dallas, TX) proved that Stevie was a guitar god, blending blues and rock like no other. Unfortunately, Stevie would die in a horrific helicopter accident.
Lynyrd Skynyrd (Jacksonville, FL), named after one of their teachers in high school, had become more famous and sold more records since their tragic plane crash then when they were alive. We don’t have enough time to detail the songs and influence this band has had on all of rock.
