Let’s take a tour of the best rock and roll Cities in America as part of our summer long vacation. Today, we’ll highlight a few bands and singers from Los Angeles…
Although they’re a group from the 60s, you can’t speak of the rock or stars from LA without mentioning the Beach Boys. Sure music was fairly simple back then, well before the psychedelic or hard rock that would come from San Francisco or Oakland, but the harmonies, music structure, and music machine that would become the Beach Boys is still felt today.
The Bangles come from LA; Susanna Hoffs and sisters Viki and Debbi Peterson formed ‘The Bangles’ in 1980, playing primarily the underground scene. The Go Gos were an all-girl group from 1980 that were categorized as ‘new wave’ until they hit the charts with “Our Lips Are Sealed” and “Vacation” from the self-entitled album.
The Black Eyed Peas, NWA, Buck Cherry, Monkees, Frank Zappa, Green Day and Motley Crue are all from Los Angeles. The list continues with the Byrds, Metallica, Van Halen, and the Eagles originating from the City of Angeles.
