America celebrates the Fourth of July today with parades, fireworks displays, concerts, great food, and lots of beers. We know that the good ole U.S.A. is a winning theme for music of all types, so let’s check out the best patriotic songs of our time…
Miley Cyrus and “Party in the U.S.A” is a terrific tune that all ages can appreciate. Regardless of your age or music preference, Miley has been un-predictable and entertaining.
“Born in the USA” by Bruce Springsteen is the ultimate July 4th song, heard on the radio and on the streets this hallowed day. The song comes from the album of the same name. The lyrics directly put into words the frustration of soldiers coming back from the Vietnam War, its misgivings and empty promise of healing.
Although the song title is “Saturday in the Park” from Chicago, it’s about the 4th of July and the American celebration. The song is so good it still makes up tear up today.
Ray Charles had a ton of hits, but his best work can be found in the patriotic tune ‘America the Beautiful” released in 1976, made famous by the bi-centennial.
“Living in the USA” is a song made hit by multiple artists including the Steve Miller Band, Linda Ronstadt, Chuck Berry and more. The song is short, sweet and to the point.
“American Girl” is not necessarily about the red white and blue, but is there anything more patriotic than a beautiful woman with all the American virtues?
“America” by Neil Diamond is a smash July 4th hit from the 1980 ‘Jazz Singer’ album, perfectly presenting the sound of honor and old glory. Simon and Garfunkel song ‘America’ a tune about hitch hiking across the country was a wonderful reminder about the open spaces of our land.
Jay Z and Kanye West gave the world “Made in America” and frankly even if you’re a rocker you’d have to appreciate the tune.
“Philadelphia Freedom” by Elton John was written for his gal pal Billy Jean King and her pro tennis team based in Philadelphia.
