Yesterday we wrote about the top guitarists of all time, with Eric Clapton being ranked near the top of that list.
Did you know that Eric is the only musician inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 3 times?! Eric is in the hall for his solo career, and being a member of the bands Cream and Yardbirds. By the wy, Eric earned his ‘slowhand’ nickname when he was a member of the Yardbirds.
Eric wrote the hit song “Layla” about George Harrison’s wife Pattie Boyd. She eventually left George to marry him, and oddly enough George and Eric remained great friends even through that transition. Eric and Pattie’s marriage lasted only nine years.
In 1975 he hit actress Shirley MacClain in the face with a pie during a skit. She didn’t know it as coming and was furious with Eric for nearly a decade.
Eric would dearly like to retire (he’s 70) but has agreed to do two stops in 2017. He’ll be playing 3/19 and 20th in New York, Madison Square Garden, and 3/25 and 26th, Los Angeles at the Forum.
